The Boulonnais quarry is the largest open-pit quarry in France, exploiting limestone and hosting several species of animals.

Écosphère, accompanied by Réseau JADE rope access technicians, decided to study the great horned owl, the emblem of this quarry.

Our rope access technicians had the perilous mission of catching a great horned owl so that Écosphère could equip it with a GPS/GSM beacon.

During the season, 12 great horned owls were equipped with these beacons as part of the project in Hauts-de-France.

The first results will be published at the end of the year, revealing the dispersal patterns of the great horned owl during the dependency period.
